"There is a lot going on in Helsingborg all the time"

Eléonor studies strategic communication and lived in Helsingborg for the first two years of her studies. Read on to find out what she thinks the best things to do in Helsingborg during the summer!

Are there any activities or events that you would recommend to others?

The summer in Helsingborg is full of concerts so even though the semester has ended there is plenty of life in the city. This year Håkan Hellström will play at Sofiero castle and artists such as Miriam Bryant, Benjamin Ingrosso, Laleh and many more will also come. So spending the summer in the city isn't bad, especially when you also have the sea within walking distance.

You need a day outdoors, so where do you go and what do you do?

If it's a hot summer day, nothing beats taking a picnic blanket and sitting down at Gröningen. It is right next to the sea and there is also a jetty there so you can enjoy both swimming and sunshine. Absolutely perfect to hang out there and then end the day by going to the harbor and having something good to drink.

On colder days, it is more comfortable to stay on foot and take a walk along the harbor instead. Then you can also turn off towards Kärnan and try different restaurants and pubs, of which there are plenty!

How is the nightlife in Helsingborg? Do you have a favorite among the clubs or bars in the city?

There are several nightclubs and many bars which makes the nightlife very fun! Yoko, Cardinal and Sirocco are my favorite clubs! For good drinks before heading out, I would highly recommend Hotel SeaU or The Vault Hotel - there is always a great atmosphere!

Coffee is an old tradition in Helsingborg. Where do you go when you want to treat yourself?

Backhaus, Bruket Kaffebar, Etoile café & bistro and Två systrar are cozy and good cafés when you want to relax. I also want to mention the breakfast at Brödkultur 2.0, which is located just before Sofiero, it is incredibly cozy.

Finally, what tips would you give to new students?

There is a lot going on in Helsingborg all the time, but especially during the school semesters when the student unions organize events. Agora organizes both Novischveckorna, for bachelor students, and Introduction weeks, for international and master students, in August, and it's something I highly recommend participating in! Both as a new student and as a mentor. I was a mentor in August 2021 and it is one of the most fun weeks I have had during my studies.
