Call for strategic initiatives Campus Helsingborg

The University Board at Lund University allocates strategic funds to strengthen research and education at Campus Helsingborg through various calls. Here you can read more about the call for funds for new and established interdisciplinary initiatives and for pioneer funds.

Campus Helsingborg is a unique part of Lund University, located in Helsingborg, that conducts cross-border education and research in close cooperation with business and the public sector. Campus Helsingborg has its own profile where all faculties carry out activities to continuously develop new internationally anchored research, education and cooperation with the surrounding society. The activities at Campus Helsingborg are characterised by pioneering and continuous development.

In order to facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation within and with external organisations outside the university, new initiatives must be launched and establishments at Campus Helsingborg must be strengthened. This is done by creating new interdisciplinary initiatives, supporting already established interdisciplinary initiatives with great growth potential, and encouraging new thinking and innovation through pioneer funding. The University Board of Lund University therefore intends to allocate strategic funds to strengthen research and education at Campus Helsingborg.

Lund University is now allocating funds for research and education totalling SEK 8 million per year for a period of five years, divided into three parts (SEK 5 million research / SEK 3 million education):
1. pioneer funds
2. new and existing interdisciplinary initiatives
3. the Board's strategic initiative.

The call will take place several occasions during the period 2023-2025. All calls will take place in the spring semester of each year.

This call only concerns funding for research and collaboration up to a total of SEK 3 million for activities in 2025. You can apply for the following funding in this call:

Pioneer Funding (1)

This means that a number of projects that support pioneering and innovative thinking can apply for and receive a one-off sum of SEK 0.1 million.  Funding is given to projects that want to test something new at Campus Helsingborg. The funds must be used for innovative activities in the form of projects. These funds are described in more detail here

New and Established Interdisciplinary Initiatives (2)

This means that a number of projects can apply for and receive funding over three years.

  • New interdisciplinary initiatives. Funding of SEK 1 million per year is available for new and untested constellations that wish to establish new activities on the Helsingborg campus. These funds are described in more detail here
  • Established interdisciplinary initiatives. Funds of SEK 0.5 million/year are allocated to already existing interdisciplinary environments that can demonstrate that they have great potential for growth. These funds are described in more detail here

Purpose

The initiative is based on Campus Helsingborg's strategic plan, which places particular emphasis on the following areas: intertwining education and research; stimulating active collaboration to identify and solve societal challenges; continuing to develop as an international university; having well-developed leadership and staff as success factors; providing an attractive environment for students, staff and visitors; and being pioneering and continuously developing.

The purpose of the Pioneer Fund (1) and the New and Established Interdisciplinary Initiatives (2) on Campus Helsingborg is

  • To support pioneering and innovative thinking at Campus Helsingborg
  • To initiate new or expand existing academic environments where Lund University has established research, education and collaboration and which can contribute to future development at Campus Helsingborg.
  • To stimulate collaborations across faculty and departmental boundaries that contribute to the integration of new activities into existing environments at Campus Helsingborg.
  • To create long-term and sustainable academic environments that are located and conducted at Campus Helsingborg.
